There are also numerous volunteer opportunities requiring various levels of commitment and training.
TCP staff will accommodate volunteer’s schedules for most items.
Our support partners meet with their assigned family each Thursday night to review budgets and spending to guide participants on their journey to sustainable, permanent housing. It is a 16-week commitment, but support partners work in pairs to ensure coverage. Please watch this video for more details:
Caring Sponsors serve as compassionate friends and mentors to assigned families, providing encouragement, guidance, and support to help them achieve stability and success. This role involves building a meaningful connection through informal weekly contact (phone calls, texts, visits), fostering trust, and being a reliable resource in their journey.
A volunteer helps maintain the files and computer records for TCP staff and families as well as answer TCP office phone lines and complete family intakes by phone.
Volunteers provide minor household maintenance when a repair is identified pre or post occupancy. It could include a range of things like fixing a toilet leak, replacing rotten deck planks or searching for and filling a mouse entry hole. Members of the maintenance team also help out with labor, and trucks if applicable, when furniture donations need to be picked up or moved into a house, beds need to be put together or other such labor tasks. As a member of the team, you can provide whatever level of support you are comfortable with — just maintenance, just labor or both.
Volunteers play a vital role in supporting children from families experiencing homelessness. Working alongside the Children’s Program Coordinator, volunteers create a safe, nurturing environment where children can build stability, confidence, and self-esteem during their family’s transition. Volunteers also provide care for the children of other program volunteers during weekly sessions.
Teams from businesses, churches, social, or civic groups prepare and serve meals to TCP families and volunteers at the weekly Thursday evening sessions. The annual calendar is usually filled in January.

Our annual September fundraising event needs volunteers to help with suggesting a theme, entertainment, securing live auction packages, and more!
Volunteers restock and decorate the homes immediately following when a family moves out of one of our properties. They choose items from our inventory of donations to make the house look and feel like a home for the next family. It is more than making beds and stocking the bathrooms. It involves taking the time to choose coordinating bedding for a room, or matching linens for the bathroom, fluffing the pillows, and leaving a toy on the bed for the next child. Our goal is to have the new family enter the home and see the home they want in their future!
