After an application and selection process, families are accepted into our 16-week short-term transitional housing. At the same time, families are placed with a team of trained adult Support Team volunteers. Under the direction of our Program Manager, volunteers teach, encourage, and celebrate families as they grow their individualized life and budgeting skills. Mandatory family sessions are held once weekly over the program period. Families develop essential elements of independent living to include:
- Budgeting & planning for defined objectives
- Required, agency- supervised savings plan for future housing and debt management
- Short/long-term goal setting and achievement
- Improved parenting techniques
- Time Management
- Landlord-tenant relations and home care
- Sustaining employment, a livable income & improving employable skills
- Stress management
- Identifying and using appropriate resources
